Flexural response of 3D printed sandwich composite

چکیده

Among many lightweight materials used in marine applications, sandwich structures with syntactic foam core are promising because of lower water uptake amid face-sheets damage. HDPE (high-density polyethylene) filament is to 3D print skin, and glass microballoon (GMB) reinforced filaments for the core. The optimized parameters prepare blends 20, 40, 60 volume % GMB HDPE. These foamed extruded form be subsequently commercially available fused fabrication (FFF) based printers. defect-free composites printed concurrently characterizing their flexural behavior. HDPE, cores, sandwiches tested under three-point bending mode. addition increases both specific modulus strength highest having a GMB. strength, fracture strain registered superior response than respective cores. experimental results found good agreement compared theoretical predictions. Finally, failure mode also discussed.

Investigation of Quasi-Static Indentation Response of Inkjet Printed Sandwich Structures under Various Indenter Geometries

The objective of this investigation was to determine the quasi-static indentation response and failure mode in three-dimensional (3D) printed trapezoidal core structures, and to characterize the energy absorbed by the structures. In this work, the trapezoidal sandwich structure was designed in the following two ways. Firstly, the trapezoidal core along with its facesheet was 3D printed as a sin...

Local slamming impact of sandwich composite hulls

We develop a hydroelastic model based on a {3,2}-order sandwich composite panel theory and Wagner’s water impact theory for investigating the fluid–structure interaction during the slamming process. The sandwich panel theory incorporates the transverse shear and the transverse normal deformations of the core, while the face sheets are modeled with the Kirchhoff plate theory. The structural mode...

Low Velocity Impact of Sandwich Composite Plates

Impact and compression after impact properties of plain weave carbon fiber sandwich composites were investigated in this study. Impact tests were conducted on different sample types to obtain information about absorbed energy and force. The different samples consisted of foam filled and hollow honeycomb cores with four layer carbon fiber sheets on one or both sides. The impact and compression a...

Low-velocity Impact of Sandwich Composite Plates

In this paper we investigate impact and compression after impact properties of plain weave carbon fiber sandwich composites. Impact tests were conducted on different sample types to obtain information about absorbed energy and maximum impact force. The different samples consisted of foam-filled and hollow honeycomb cores with four-layer carbon fiber facesheets on one or both sides. The impact a...
